Taft I recently built a new Windows 7 Core i7 with some new and old parts from my previous system. Since my last computer had hard drive torques up to one year under his belt, I chose two new 500GB Western Digital 7200RPM SATA Green. The investment in the safety of my data was worth. I could not be happier. They are still in the case of my CPU (seriously, I can not feel it, even if my feet resting against the case during the read / write operations) and faster than a hard drive I had before. The plan is to keep it until the price of hard drives Solid state drops to around the price of traditional hard disk. I think time will be around when the world ends in 2012 ... if you believe in that nonsense. , P 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. I have two of them ... W works great! Using eyecore bought two of these mirrored as an external backup drive performance, while nice, is not crucial for me (because it all goes through a USB2 interface anyway), but noise and power consumption. In my Seagate drive died (they are not even worthy of a link to their product Odde. Seagate not buy their firmware probably riddled with errors that it would release an update to ... after you've "lost all your data.) Anyway after formatting the drive, while a series of tests for integrity, these risks appear to be standard for all other Western Digital drives I've bought in the past. They run on low power, cool, and very quiet - the fan in the external housing is much higher than the two combined drives. Copying data to and from the unit was flawless, and although not as fast as many other devices on the market if you try to save energy and / or coming to an external enclosure in each case (and speed so much), so these units can not be beat really highly recommend. The only "problem" with Western Digital hard drives is that they are still far too long. As I write this, I have four wheel drive beside my desk: 3gig (August 1997), 8gig (March 1999), 13gig (March 2000), 80gig (June 2004). Test Drive and works great so far. Hi-Tech Geek I just installed this last night as a backup drive. I bought to replace my primary drive WD 2006, but the package was so bad I felt better before the test.
