Backup files and folders Using Wireless Home Network By ~ ~ Z a checked Amazon Shopper on August 11, 2011 EDIT: According to another user, the Seagate FreeAgent external hard drive GoFlex Home will not work with OS X Lion. The new operating system that Apple released on July 20, 2011. I give this item 3.5 stars. He loses one star because it really is not "easy set-up," the report says. It takes some time to get your files first and the first backup. I was very excited to try this product to my home network because we have two PCs (Windows XP & 1 1 7), and a Mac computer for every desktop, I have installed external backup hard drives. The idea of having a backup drive for all my files, pictures and iTunes music backup seemed like a dream come true. Has a 1 TB storage, which corresponds to 1024GB. Let's start with the installation I use the Windows 7 PC for initial configuration. The first and most important, you need a home network, a wireless router and of course an internet connection. Enclosed in the box is very simple "Quick Start" guide, I suggest you go to the manufacturer's website and download the manual of 82 pages giving more information. I connected the power and an Ethernet cable to my wireless router. I turned on the drive and inserted the installation CD. I called and saved my hard and added additional user accounts, one for each computer. After that was complete, I had to install the software on my Windows PCs and Macs others. After installing the CD on another PC, a screen appears asking you to enter a user name and password. It 'so simple. Installation on my Mac was a little 'different, but I was able to easily follow the instructions and have connected via Time Machine without any problems. A little advice for Mac users, if you plan to use Time Machine to back up files instead of using Memeo Instant Backup option, go to Settings Seagate Share before you install the program on Mac When you're on the Settings page, the you activate the computer backup. Create a password, this password is used to configure the program when it is installed on your Mac, this information can only be found in the manual downloaded on-line customers. Fortunately, I read the entire manual before you install Seagate GoFlex fumbled. It took a long, long time to backup all files and folders on all three computers, but I had no errors or problems. Depending on the number of files and folders you have backed up, you can take all day and night. The program just runs in the background, and you should not do anything. The device will automatically create folders for each account three PCs, a public folder, and backup personnel. Seagate panel is the central location for all files on your computer, this only works on Windows, this is why I use my PC with Windows 7 as the host. Mac is Seagate Sharing and must use the Internet to access the files. You have the possibility to use Internet-based storage for Windows, so if you want. There are several options on how you want to back up files, I went with the automatic backup. I clicked on the backup snapshot of my letter and the computer that shows how much storage to be included in the backup. If you select only certain files, use the advanced settings and drag the files from the backup. After clicking on the "Start Backup" my files backup began. Every time you add a new file in the folder or make changes, Seagate GoFlex automatically back up the file. Every computer in my house already has a wireless printer, so I really have no use for printer sharing. But if you want to use a wireless network printer on your home network, you connect the printer via the printer's USB cable to the drive Seagate GoFlex There are many.
